KU accounting researchers earn top spot in two categories of latest BYU rankings

Accounting faculty at the University of Kansas School of Business rank No. 1 globally in audit archival and all audit research contributions over the past six and 12 years, according to Brigham Young University’s 2021 index of accounting research.

BYU releases rankings of accounting departments each year based on the number of publications in 12 top accounting journals for the most recent six years, the most recent 12 years, and for all years since 1990. The rankings are categorized by accounting topic and research method.

This year’s BYU rankings also place KU accounting researchers at No. 9 over the past 12 years and No. 13 over the past six years for their contributions in all archival research.

Other highlights from BYU’s rankings:

  • KU ranks No. 13 across all topics and research methods over the past six years and No. 15 across all topics and research methods over the past 12 years.
  • For audit archival research contributions from the most recent six years, KU has improved from 9th in the 2016 rankings to 1st in the 2021 rankings.
  • For all audit research contributions from the most recent six years, KU has improved from 13th in the 2016 rankings to 1st in the 2021 rankings.
