Biography

Jessica Burghart is a proud enrolled member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation. She has a doctorate in management with a focus on leadership and management at Walden University. She also holds a Master of Philosophy from Walden, an MBA from Friends University, and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Haskell Indian Nations University. Burghart is passionate about Indigenous issues in business and has developed business strategies specifically for Native American businesses in her dissertation. 

Currently, Burghart teaches courses on international business, business policy, financial management, and production operations management at Haskell. She has held various business roles at companies like Honeywell and GM and has served on the Ethics Committee for the Prairie Band Potawatomi Tribe. 

She was selected as an advisory board member for Missouri State University and has been recognized for her work with awards such as the SCMC/NNSA Small Business Advocate Award and was named a 2023 American Indian College Fund Fellow. Furthermore, Burghart is a sponsor for the American Indigenous Business Leaders and the American Indian Science & Engineering Society student organizations. Recently, she received a $250,000 grant from the SBA for the Tribal College Small Business Achievement Grant Program and has presented her research at conferences.
