Biography —
Samira Hussein is a Business Administration professor at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas. She teaches several business courses like HRM, Organizational Behavior, Personal Finance, Small Business Management, along with International Business. Her degrees are in clinical psychology and business administration.
Hussein has authored several international business courses, which will be offered soon, as part of the concentration in the Business Administration program at JCCC. She has traveled extensively and has taught in China, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. In the past, Hussein has worked on Islamic Studies and China Studies Title VI grants from the State Department to author modules for her courses.
Additionally, Hussein was selected for a Group Fulbright to Morocco, where she spent time collaborating with colleagues to strengthen her international course and develop partnerships. In the past she has worked with Institute of Business Administration in Sukkur, Pakistan to start community colleges in Pakistan. As a result of her initiative, IBA Sukkur was awarded a U.S. Embassy grant, which has led to exchanges between IBA Sukkur and Johnson County Community College. Currently there are 23 community colleges operating under the auspices of IBA Sukkur.
Hussein's hobbies and interests are to first keep up with her family residing in the United Kingdom, Australia, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia. She speaks four languages, is interested in Faculty Exchanges programs offered at JCCC, hosting international scholars, and reading South Asian and Middle East fiction.
