Admissions requirements for incoming freshmen

An important note: Please be aware that admission to the School of Business is conditional upon receiving final, official transcript and/or official standardized test scores. Directly admitted incoming freshmen must have met one of the direct-admission pathways for the School of Business; high school GPA consideration is based on a 4.0 scale only.

1. Apply to the University of Kansas.

Apply to KU through the Office of Admissions. For scholarship consideration, we encourage you to apply to KU by Dec. 1.

2. Indicate a business major on your KU application.

Applicants accepted at KU with an interest in business are eligible for direct admission into the School of Business if they have an index score of greater than or equal to 5.55. The index score is calculated using a student’s high school GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and ACT composite or SAT math and evidence-based reading and writing scores: (ACT/10) + HS GPA = index score. The School of Business uses a GPA on a 4.0 scale to make an admission decision.

Students should refer to the official ACT/SAT concordance table (PDF) when comparing SAT scores to ACT scores.

Graph shows a blue squares on top and yellow squares below, separated by a thick line. Students whose scores are plotted above the line are eligible for direct admission.

Students who do not qualify for admission directly to the School of Business can apply later in their academic careers when they’ve met these requirements.

Test-Optional Pathway: Incoming freshman must have a 3.4+ high school GPA on a 4.0 scale for admission.

3. Apply to undergraduate enrichment programs

Students entering the school as freshman are eligible to apply to our undergraduate student enrichment programs:
