Program overview
The KU School of Business Career Forward Certificate Program is a cohort-based, co-curricular experience that prepares KU Business for internship or full-time roles through hands-on career development.
Students invited to the program join a small cohort for peer support and guidance while building essential career readiness skills, including:
- Resume development — Craft a compelling, standout resume;
- Career Fair strategies — Make a strong, lasting impression;
- LinkedIn optimization — Strengthen networking and job search presence;
- Professional image — Align your brand with your career goals;
- Career growth tools — Access resources for long-term success;
- Interviewing — Build confidence and refine your approach;
- Offers and negotiations — Navigate job offers effectively.
This seven-week, in-person program features biweekly, interactive workshops led by our Career Forward Leads, industry professionals and Business Career Services, delivering real-world insights and practical experience.

Requirements and rewards
To earn the Career Forward Certificate, students must complete the seven-week program. Participants also receive 50 points toward the Hatch badge, recognizing their commitment to career readiness and professional development.
Students who complete the program can apply to become a Career Forward Lead, gaining leadership experience while facilitating small-group workshops. Leads must complete training and demonstrate strong presentation skills. Selected students earn 30 hours towards the Soar badge.
The KU School of Business partners with employers to deliver real-world insights through this program. Organizations can participate as guest speakers or networking partners, connecting directly with students preparing for internships and full-time roles.
