Minor in international business
Program information
The international business minor encourages business school students to explore the international dimensions of business in a program that will be reflected on university transcripts.
Required courses
- IBUS 410: Introduction to International Business
- IBUS 462: Cross-Cultural Management
- IBUS 480: International Management
Cultural broadening requirement
- Students are required to successfully complete one language course at KU or participate in a KU summer or semester study abroad (minimum 4 weeks).
Regional/functional knowledge
3 credits from one of the following course or experiential options:
- IBUS 415: Business in Latin America
- IBUS 425: Business in China
- FIN 420: International Finance
- MKTG 440: Global Marketing
- MGMT 434: International Human Resource Management
or
- Approved business school study abroad program
Electives
3 or more credits from one of the following options:
An additional course from the list of Regional/Functional courses
or
- IBUS 300, 400 or 500
or
- An additional course from the School of Business IDR list (300 level or above)
or
- Other related course as approved by the designated International Business faculty member
A minor in HR management provides students with a credible foundation for an HR career path, including a marketable endorsement. It also provides a foundation for graduates seeking to obtain Society for Human Resource Management certification.
