Biography

Dr. Atanas Mihov is an associate professor of finance and Capitol Federal Fellow at the University of Kansas (KU) School of Business. He teaches International Finance and Commercial Credit Analysis at the undergraduate level.

Before joining KU in 2020, Mihov served as a senior financial economist in the Quantitative Supervision & Research group at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, where he led a team of economists and quantitative analysts modeling operational risk at large financial institutions as part of the Federal Reserve's stress-testing program. Since joining KU, he has also held visiting positions with the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. Mihov’s research interests include international finance, banking, operational risk, supply chains, and corporate innovation. His work has been published in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Financial EconomicsJournal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Review of Finance.

He holds a doctorate in finance from the University of Florida and a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from Ramapo College of New Jersey.
