Biography

Atanas Mihov teaches International Finance and Corporate Financial Policy at the undergraduate level in the University of Kansas School of Business. Before joining KU in 2020, he was a senior financial economist with the Quantitative Supervision & Research group of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. Mihov has expertise in risk quantification, measurement and modeling. Before leaving the Fed, he led a team of financial economists and quantitative analysts responsible for the modeling of operational risk at large financial institutions in the Federal Reserve's stress-testing program (DFAST). He also contributed to numerous other Federal Reserve projects in financial institution quantitative surveillance and supervisory model development. His research has been published in leading academic journals such as the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Review of Finance and Journal of International Business Studies, among others.
