Biography

Erin Whitehurst joined the University of Kansas faculty in 2022. She teaches undergraduates about professionalism and emerging topics, like the future of work, data and tech trends, the future of health, environment, social and governance (ESG) and “the Roaring 2020s” – where pop culture meets the private sector. Her goal is to unpack the nuanced challenges & opportunities of our era and to catalyze curious, engaged and purpose-driven leaders.

Before coming to KU, Whitehurst spent 11 years in management consulting with Deloitte, focused on business strategy, M&A, and emerging market opportunities – in particular ESG. She left in 2023 as a senior manager, finding that her love for developing talented teams translated well into mentoring students. Whitehurst has other prior experiences in the mentoring sphere, having co-founded an online interview coaching platform, Consulting Interview Coach, in 2015 and authoring “20 Days to Ace the Case,” available on Amazon and other retail outlets.

Whitehurst serves on several local and international boards, including the Lied Center of Kansas and Bodhi Surf & Yoga in Costa Rica. She served as the Lied Center Board’s capital campaign chair in 2023-2024 and as its president in 2024-2025. Outside of work, she loves traveling, podcasts, musical performance and, most of all, spending time with her husband (Destin), daughters (Aria and Kaia) and Cavapoo (Ozzie).
