Biography

Marcus Cottrell was born and raised in Manly, Iowa. After graduating from Iowa State University, he lived in Providence, Rhode Island, and Manhattan, Kansas, where he worked in university housing as a community coordinator. Since shifting to KU, Marcus has worked as an academic advisor for the School of Education and Human Sciences and assistant director in Jayhawk Academic Advising for the School of Business.

Interests and hobbies

As a lifelong coffee and tea fanatic, Cottrell can often be found in a local coffee shop. However, most of his spare time is dedicated toward singing with the Central Standard chorus in Kansas City, as well and his barbershop quartet, Fission. When he has a moment, Cottrell enjoys meeting new people, rock climbing, spoiling his dog, playing instruments, eating, watching anime, taking road trips, and cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones.
