Endowed support removes financial barriers for future business leaders
A new KU School of Business endowed scholarship will help business students pursue their education with fewer financial obstacles.
Leo Redmond, a 1986 KU Business graduate, recently established gifts in the school and in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS), to ensure that students could focus on their education without being burdened with finances.

“Everyone deserves a chance at success,” Redmond said. “The education that students receive at the School of Business provides this opportunity. It also strengthens the business community, so it is good for the student and good for society.”
Redmond, originally from Overland Park, Kansas, received his bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from KU and an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at the UCLA.
He became interested in the biotechnology industry and life sciences and worked in the industry for more than half of his career in senior management roles. Today, he resides in Burlingame, California, and is CFO for Aulos Bioscience.
Giving back to the School of Business and CLAS through endowed scholarships will provide continued student support well into the future.
Redmond hopes those who receive his scholarships will pay it forward one day when they have the chance.
“The School of Business is a special place for me because it provided me with a quality education, including the perspectives and skills to be effective in many roles,” Redmond said. “I am grateful KU was there for me and that it enriched my life and career options. I want to see it there for others like me in the future. I hope that this scholarship eases financial burdens and allows the recipients to focus on their education and that those who are successful in their careers will pay it forward for future generations of students.”
