LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas School of Business is No. 4 in a ranking released Monday of top business schools for military veterans.

Military Times’ 2016 Best for Vets: Business Schools ranking lists 77 business schools for veterans in all. Earlier this year, KU ranked No. 10 overall on the publication’s best universities for veterans list.

“I see this as recognition of a collective faculty and staff investment in our dean’s vision of serving those who serve us all,” said Greg Freix, director of the business school’s master’s program in supply chain management and logistics, a partnership with Fort Leavenworth’s Command and General Staff College.

The survey-based ranking focused on university culture, curriculum and other amenities available to military veterans at responding universities. This is Military Times’ fourth ranking of best business schools for veterans. The School of Business ranked No. 25 and 28 on 2014 and 2015 lists, respectively.

“KU’s School of Business has a long history of providing quality programming for the military,” said Dee Steinle, executive director of MBA programs. “Our MBA track in petroleum management has educated ‘Kansas Fuelies’ for more than 40 years, and it’s a strong community of active-duty soldiers and veterans.”

Alumni of the MBA program in petroleum management have risen to high military ranks, including Navy rear admiral and commander, among others.

“This ranking is a reflection of the culture of military and veteran inclusiveness across the entire university,” said Mike Denning, KU’s director of graduate military programs.  “KU is truly a great place for active duty, veterans, reservists and guardsmen and women. We have a climate for them to successfully transition and to thrive.”

“We have a continued commitment to our veterans,” said Steve Leonard, the business school’s director of national security programs. “We are humbled and honored to be able to serve those who have sacrificed so much for our country.”

The rankings are published online and in new issues of each Military Times media property including Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Corps Times.
