Startup Jayhawk

Startup Jayhawk is a multiday celebration of the student entrepreneurial ecosystem at the University of Kansas and the communities we serve.

Startup Jayhawk 2025

Startup Jayhawk 2024 will be March 25, 27 and 28 at Capitol Federal Hall.

This multiday event offers students opportunities to learn from professionals who work at startups; to ideate and develop startup solutions leveraging AI; and to hear from an expert and author whose work focuses on innovation.

The school hosts Startup Jayhawk events annually to highlight its role as the hub for student entrepreneurs at KU.

Startup Jayhawk Day 1 – Tuesday, March 25

Noon–2 p.m. Tim Barton Colloquium,1010 Capitol Federal Hall
 Kansas City (Meet/return at Capitol Federal Hall)

All KU students are invited to come network and chat with other students interested in entrepreneurship. Students from The Catalyst will be available to answer any questions. This event is come and go, so stop by in between classes.

Refreshments will be provided. A special guest will also be in attendance.

School of Business students will earn 10 professional development points for attending.

Startup Jayhawk Day 2 – Thursday, March 27

12:15–1:15 p.m. Tim Barton Colloquium, 1010 Capitol Federal Hall

Join Josh Wexler, the KU School of Business Innovator-in-Residence as he guides students through an AI Startup Workshop. Here, they will learn:

  • How to use AI effectively with an intro to prompt engineering
  • How to create new business ideas with the help of AI and Lean Canvas
  • How to understand AI and how it can be used as a creative helper but with its limits

Participating students should bring a laptop to this event. Light refreshments will be provided.

School of Business students will earn 10 professional development points for attending.

Startup Jayhawk Day 3 – Friday, March 28

9 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Kansas City (Meet/return at Capitol Federal Hall)

Students are invited to visit startup companies in the Kansas City area and hear how they got started, how they navigated product market fit and what it's like to work at a company of their size.

Companies will also share about internship opportunities. Lunch will be provided in KC. There will be opportunities for students to network and learn what it feels like to work for newer companies at different stages of their growth.

Bus transportation for students will be provided. Breakfast will be provided before departing Lawrence.

School of Business students will earn 20 professional development points for attending.
