The Jack Dicus Business Honors Program looks for students who want to engage deeply in their coursework and make a meaningful impact, not simply build a résumé.

No. All students must apply to be considered. Admission is competitive, and meeting minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee acceptance.

Applicants are typically notified of their admission decision approximately three weeks after the application deadline.

No. A minimum 3.7 cumulative KU GPA is required to apply.

Students who raise their GPA to 3.7 or higher in a future semester are encouraged to apply at that time.

Experiential learning refers to meaningful experiences outside the classroom that connect your education to real-world impact.

Business Honors students complete three experiential learning activities, such as leadership, research, internships or global experiences, as part of the program.

About the program

No. There is no additional cost to participate in the Business Honors Program.

All program benefits are included in standard KU Business tuition and fees.

Yes. Students can participate in Business Honors alongside programs such as the University Honors Program, Jennett Finance Scholars or Accounting Scholars. The School of Business encourages eligible students to pursue multiple opportunities.

Check with your University Honors advisor to confirm which Business Honors courses also count for Honors requirements.

Business Honors integrates into your existing School of Business major.

Your overall degree requirements remain the same, with the option to take Honors versions of select courses.

No. The Business Honors Program is designed to be completed within your standard four-year degree timeline.

Business Honors courses are designed to be more engaging and discussion-driven than traditional classes. You’ll work closely with faculty and collaborate with high-achieving peers to explore course material in greater depth.

Students are expected to actively contribute, think critically and continuously challenge themselves.

For current Business Honors students

If a Business Honors course is full, you may submit an enrollment petition through your academic advisor.

Requests are reviewed based on availability, classroom capacity and your individual circumstances (such as your final semester or graduation requirements).
